​I am grateful to my photography mentors, Gary Cialdella, Mary Whalen, and Laurie Pruitt, for training me in the art and craft of photography while imparting a richer way of seeing and appreciating the natural world.  I am also grateful to the Kirk Newman Art School of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Kalamazoo, Michigan for the many classes and workshops I’ve taken there since 1979.  And I acknowledge my neighbor and good friend Steve Klindt, a fine art photographer and retired art gallery director, for our many stimulating discussions about all things photographic and artistic.

​Many of the Michigan landscape photos were taken in preserves and sanctuaries created and managed by the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy.

​Many of the Florida landscapes were taken in the Oak Hammock section of Rothenbach Park, a community park just outside the Sarasota city limits.
